Birds + Flies Series
Featuring seasonal warblers you’re likely to encounter in the woods + waters of Maine, this series celebrates classic streamer patterns in playful relationship with birds of similar palette.
Blackburnian Warbler
Setophaga fusca: often observed high up in the canopy or on reaching branches of trees, these stunners are like flitting flames with a feisty song and dramatic flight of territorial conflict should two males cross paths in the spring.
I think I audibly gasped the first time I saw a blackburnian in my yard. SO stunning, and though often quick in appearance, always an honor.

Golden Witch Streamer
Designed by Carrie Stevens and one of many variations, this depiction is a bit of a few knowing custom modifications are always part of regional fly tying practice. This pattern utilizes a mix of tinsel, silk, buck tail, grizzly, pheasant crest, white hackle, and jungle cock for the eye.
